I’ve been thinking lately that this house needs a wall clock. Isn’t this clock cute? It’s an Ikea clock that has been personalised with a new backing.

(Ikea Piro clock, $24.99)

The backing is easily removed and scrapbooking paper/wrapping paper/fabric/etc can be stuck over the top of the existing design. It sounds so easy and it’s a great way to have an affordable yet interesting clock. If you got bored of the backing, you could easily just swap it out. I’m picturing some lovely Japanese paper or something geometric. Maybe this or this. I’m thinking of even tearing a page out of an old Melways and using that. It would look great hanging above the TV, between the two awkwardly placed windows where I currently have a 12fifteen print hanging.

More inspiration and stencils here.

Time is running out to enter one of the many fabulous fabric giveaways in celebration of Earth Day. The giveaways are being hosted by:

Betz White, Birch Fabrics, Cloud9 Fabrics, Cottage Industrialist, Daisy Janie, Harmony Art, ink & spindle, loop, Monaluna, Swanky Swell, Umbrella Prints and Homesweet

They are each offering a selection of their wonderful fabrics so hurry up and enter!

Moroccan tile rugs have been around for a while but unfortunately the trend hasn’t really reached Australia yet (or maybe I’m just looking in the wrong places?). The above rug is an Ikea Erslev flatwoven rug that some very smart Ikea Hacker has stenciled with fabric paint. I’ve never really consider stenciling a rug, I wonder how it would hold up in an area with a lot of foot traffic. It’s a project that looks totally doable and affordable so maybe I’ll give it a try.

The new Real Living magazine has just come out and I spent a solid couple of hours pouring over it the other night. There are so many beautiful things in it. I’ve turned over so many corners in this magazine, it’s a bit ridiculous really. There are more pages marked than not.

One of the great finds in the magazine are these beautiful cushions from Chez Moi.

Aren’t they gorgeous?? There’s a couple of stockists nearby so I’ll definitely have to go and see them in the flesh (er.. fabric?).

Clothes and accessories from a variety of shops, including Witchery, Bardot, Jag and Beyond Skin.

Not to overstate it but The Works in Burwood Road, Hawthorn is honestly my favourite shop ever.

It is the best place to go for homewares, linen, cookware, cushions, bathroom and children’s decor if you’re ever in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs. Not many people seem to know about it so it’s never that busy. I never have to wait for a table in the mezzanine cafe and I can leisurely sip my coffee and eat my brunch while overlooking the store, contemplating potential purchases.

The Works is like Bed Bath ‘n Table on crack. Technically, it is Bed Bath ‘n Table because they seem to own it, or it’s an off-shoot of it or… something, I don’t know what the story is, all I know is that it’s an aircraft hangar sized homewares heaven. There’s so much there to look at. My favourite bit is the decorator corner where there are tons of vases, ceramic things, art and votives, all grouped by colour/style.

This place is so secret, it doesn’t have a website and there are no photos at all of it on the internet. The best I could come up with is a Google Maps street view of it! With no photographic evidence of The Works’ awesomeness, you’ll just have to trust me on this one.

Here’s my niece’s new table! I’m really happy with how it turned out. It was an extremely easy project so I’d recommend it to anyone. I think I’ve caught the table covering bug and have already started to think about fabrics for our spare dining table.

Of course, I only remembered to photograph it when we were almost out the door going to the birthday party. Look, you can even see the door! Yes my walls are yellow, but not quite as yellow as that photo makes out. If only we owned this house, I would repaint all the walls and paint the trim white. Oh, and get rid of that lovely 70s door.
